2022 Kristallnacht Remembrance: “Building Resiliency Through Memory”

Wednesday, November 9 @ 7:00 PM
  • This event has passed.

As a community committed to the welfare of our citizens, we remember the events of November 9, 1938, also known as the “Night of Broken Glass.” This annual event brings the community together to bear witness and recognize our responsibility to promote an active and informed citizenry, recognize individual and societal responsibility for each other, and foster mutual respect and justice.

This year, we also will be partnering with students in Dr. Dana Smith’s class, “Art and the Holocaust,” on a public memorialization project. Inspired by the Foundation Stones project in the UK, we are providing the opportunity for community members to decorate a stone on the theme of remembrance and prevention. All stones and supplies will be provided for free. There will be a table set up at the Colonial Theatre both before this year’s Kristallnacht event (starting at 6:00pm) as well as at after the event ends (around 8:00pm). We hope you will join us!

The Kristallnacht Remembrance event is presented each year by the Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Keene State College and the Colonial Performing Arts Center. This program is only possible due to donations (both large and small) from those who believe in this work. If you wish to contribute to this year’s Kristallnacht program, you can make a donation online at: https://giving.keene.edu/cchgs/
