Richard Thompson (Solo Acoustic)

Named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of All Time, Richard Thompson is also one of the world’s most critically acclaimed and prolific songwriters. He has received Lifetime Achievement Awards for Songwriting on both sides of the Atlantic – from the Americana Music Association in Nashville to Britain’s BBC Awards as well as the prestigious Ivor Novello. In 2011, Thompson received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) personally bestowed upon him by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. In the USA Thompson has been nominated at the Americanas for both “Artist of the Year” and “Song of the Year”.  His recently released CD, Still was produced  by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and reached #6 in the UK charts (just ahead of Taylor Swift)!

As an in-demand live performer, the past two years saw Richard Thompson headlining dates around the world, co-headlining shows with Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, as well as the Americanarama Tour  with Bob Dylan, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket – which culminated with Dylan himself performing RT’s classic song “1952 Vincent Black Lightning”.  Thompson’s genre defying mastery of both acoustic and electric guitar along with dizzying energy and onstage wit continue to earn Richard Thompson massive new fans and a place as one of the most distinctive virtuosos in Folk Rock history.

“Genius appears early. Legends are earned. But history’s greatest never stand on their laurels. This is the artistic arc for Richard Thompson!”

Joan Shelley will be opening for Richard Thompson. Shelley is a songwriter, guitarist and banjoist from Louisville, Kentucky. Her third album Over and Even, a collaboration with guitarist Nathan Salsburg, was released in the fall of 2015. It was an album of the year at NPR Music and in the Los Angeles Times, while Rolling Stone magazine called it, “a masterfully turned set of folk reflections.” Shelley and Salsburg toured the world in support of it, appearing on stages large and small. She will release a new record in the spring of 2017.

The Beach Boys

You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they’ve had and how many millions of albums they’ve sold. But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. To be sure, this band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions, but its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt. Happily for us all, The Beach Boys continue to create and perform with the same bold imagination and style that marked their explosive debut 50 years ago

Even more than the Beatles, The Beach Boys found through their music the key to unfading youth—and they made copies for everyone. To these guys, the beach isn’t just a place where the surf comes to play—it’s where life is renewed and made whole again. In addition to founding Beach Boy Mike Love (lead vocals) and Beach Boy-vet Bruce Johnston (vocals/keyboards)–Christian Love (guitar/vocals), Randell Kirsch (bass/vocals), Tim Bonhomme (keyboards/vocals), John Cowsill of The Cowsills (percussion /vocals) and Scott Totten (guitar/vocals) round out the band.
