Keller Williams & Leo Kottke: Shut the Folk Up and Listen

We are proud to welcome Leo Kottke and Keller Williams to The Colonial Theatre on Saturday, January 14 2017.

Leo Kottke: Kottke is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on blues, jazz, and folk music, and for syncopated, polyphonic melodies. He overcame a series of personal obstacles, including partial loss of hearing and a nearly career-ending bout with tendon damage in his right hand to emerge as a widely recognized master of his instrument.

Keller Williams: Since he first appeared on the scene in the early ‘90s, Williams has defined the term independent artist.  And his recordings tell only half the story. Keller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career, he had performed solo. His stage shows are rooted around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar.

What to expect: This very special evening of music will feature a solo set by each artist and some spontaneous collaborations between Williams and Kottke.

The Keb’ Mo’ Band

With three GRAMMY Awards and a lengthy list of collaborators, visionary roots-music storyteller Keb’ Mo’ is one of the most celebrated living blues artists. His 2014 album, BLUESAmericana, was a signpost of artistic and personal growth. His guitar playing inspired the Gibson Keb’ Mo’  Bluesmaster guitar, and his songs have been recorded by musical greats such as B.B. King and Joe Cocker. As a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, producer, actor, mentor and consistently excellent performer, Keb’ Mo’ is a true American idol. He handles himself with grace and style as evidenced in this entire collection, from the unique “hot pink” album packaging of his newly released “Keb’ Mo’ LIVE” to the feeling the music inspires while listening to it. Without even realizing it, you will find yourself humming along, dancing and laughing as the true “slice of life” vibe shines through and catches you in a spellbound moment of aural euphoria. Because, after all, “Life is Beautiful,” truly.
